NOTES:
The file-naming conventions used up to October, 2012, are overly verbose. This makes selecting them from the pop-up list more difficult than when concise, clear names are used.
Example 1: every file under/home/forespar/ss-data/templates/is a template so including that in the filename is superfluous.
Example 2: every file under/home/forespar/ss-data/templates/pages/is a page template so including “page” in the filename is likewise superfluous.
Example 3: the word forespar in front of every template name is a good idea because it identifies templates created (or modified) exclusively for the Forespar site. However, this can be shorted tofs_and convey the same info more concisely and consistently.The word “new” in any filename is meaningless; it's a relative term with no frame of reference. Every file should be concidered “new” and currently in play; legacy and backup files can have the date (in the form
_2012_03_10(note leading zero)) and “_bk” appended respectively. Files and templates under development should either be in separate directories or have “dev” as part of the filename. examples:
live, active file: forespar-header.htmlold file kept for back-up or legacy: forespar-header_2011_08_21.htmlnew version under development: forespar-header_dev.htmlThe use of hyphens (-) and underscores (_) needs to be consistently applied across all filenames. Hyphens should be avoided in filenames.
