Our new Velocity™ Series offers affordable two-piece telescoping carbon fiber whisker poles that quickly adjust to the necessary length with an easy-to-use line control system. Designed for easy use and adjustment, these carbon poles maximize downwind sailing efficiency for racers or cruisers. These lightweight poles can be quickly deployed, adjusted and retracted as needed with a simple pull of a line.
The Velocity™ series poles feature strong all carbon fiber construction. This allows them to be telescoped to match the clew position of almost any jib, genoa or asymmetrical sail. The pole's length is easily adjusted to fit using Forespar's new 2:1 line control system which leads to the outside of the pole for easy handlng and adjustment.. This ultra smooth system allows the pole to be quickly and securely extended for deployment, or retracted for storage, by almost anyone onboard by simply pulling or easing the adjustment line. Once fully retracted, Velocity™ poles are easily stored on or below deck using space. They can also be stores vertically on the front of the mast using our optional track and car pole storage system.
All Velocity™ poles feature Forespar's exclusive Marelon® lightweight and non-marring UXP composite pole ends for attachment to the mast and the sail, sheet. Each pole has with a matte textured EZ Grip finish, or can also be customized with a high gloss clear coat.
LINE CONTROL™ WHISKER POLES
Line Control™ is a proven concept in telescoping whisker pole design. So unique, that full patent protection has been secured. Line Control™ is only available on Forespar® whisker poles. See the chart below for pole lengths and tube sizes. The system is simple, and makes the extension and retraction of poles quick and easy. And most amazing of all...the entire operation can be executed while standing at the mast. It is no longer necessary to go forward or to adjust buttons of any kind - simply uncleat the line and extend or retract (never attempt to adjust while under load). It's quick and easy even with the largest poles. Topping lift attachment points are on all poles.
"Whisker poles are used for non-spinnaker class racing and short-handed cruising, or whenever downwind performance is desired without the use of conventional spinnakers. A properly sized and deployed whisker pole will allow the headsail to add considerable power and speed to downwind sailing. Telescoping whisker poles allow one pole to be used with furling headsails or multiple sized jibs and genoas on a given boat. By projecting the headsail out to weather and out of the mainsail’s “wind shadow”, the headsail can fill and stabilize. Without a whisker pole, the headsail will flop from side to side, limp and useless. The use of a whisker pole will allow “wing on wing” sailing dead downwind with surprising performance. In recent years, asymmetrical spinnakers have become “all the rage” in off-the-wind sailing. These sails are subject to the same dynamics as jibs or genoas as you turn closer to dead down wind or try to sail “deep”. The use of a whisker pole to hold out the clew of the asymmetrical sail will stabilize the sail in the same way as it does a genoa and allow better performance and an increased “sailing angle” with these sails."
