Both Garboard Drains on my 8 yo Catalina Sport began leaking last season. I had to remove them and bridge a gap of 2 1/2" between the drain opening in the cockpit liner to the exit in the transom. Catalina Direct and the Catalina Factory did not carry replacement drains. I wouldn't use plastic there and besides I couldn't find anything even approaching the design I needed. While I wish Forespar made them a little larger, I was thrilled by the Marelon strength and design quality of the drains. I just popped them in and sealed them up with 5200 and the problem was solved. Because the original holes were slightly larger than the OD of the Marelon drains, I had to fashion some flat washers out of a 1/8" PVC sheet, but that was easy enough. Would recommend highly. |
